About This Project

Project Overview:

The Southern Gateway Alliance was formed by four alliance partners Leighton contractors, WA Limestone GHD and Mainroads back in late 2006 to construct and design Western Australia’s largest ever road project. The extension of the existing Kwinana Freeway, an additional 70km to effectively join the Old Coast Rd and the city of Perth. The project required 9 million cubic metres of material to be placed the construction of 19 bridges 16km of culvert and 50km of fencing. It has 6 major interchanges and 12 intersections.

Insight Survey involvement:

  • Appointed as the Survey Managers for the project
  • Award winning project for Insight Survey with its implementation and management of the two way data communications network and GPS Machine Guidance system for the project.
  • Earthworks set out and as constructed reporting.
  • Undertook concrete set out and Quality Assurance for 3 Pier and Troff type bridges of the 19 constructed on the project.
